Karla Brooks is the creator of The Brooks Method, a clinically informed, Pilates-based movement system for chronic pain relief and resilient movement in real bodies.

A native Washingtonian and graduate of Duke Ellington School of the Arts, Karla danced professionally with ballet companies throughout the United States for over a decade. She was introduced to Pilates during her dance career and has over 25 years of teaching experience specializing in chronic pain, osteoporosis, and perinatal movement.

Karla served on the teaching faculty at Body Arts and Science International (BASI), an internationally recognized Pilates certifying organization, and remains a featured model in BASI’s study guides and manuals.

Her certifications include: BASI Comprehensive Pilates, RockTape Myofascial Release Specialist, American Council on Exercise (Personal Trainer), AFAA (Group Exercise Instructor), and Healthy Moms Fitness (Perinatal Specialist). She is a member in good standing with The Pilates Method Alliance.

Karla works with individuals and organizations seeking specialized movement solutions for chronic pain management, women’s health, and workplace wellness.
